Ban on T-Shirts advertising alcohol

Post by Essex » July 4, 2019, 8:14 pm

I heard today that any clothing showing alcohol brands has now been banned in Thailand.

Fines range between 2,500 for non-cooperation with inspectors and a maximum of 500,000 baht for promoting and advertising alcohol illegally. There are also punishments of up to six months in jail for various offences. Foreigners violating the Alcohol Control Act of 2008 also risk a lifetime ban on entering the kingdom.

Anybody got more info on this? Or is it a joke?

been talked about for tears has never been fully implemented bars have taped over the glasses with sinage on them then all goes back to normal however 30ft chang signs with mineral on them are fine wonder how many of the bars that have them even stock chang mineral water
it is also illegal for a bar to suggest a beer for you as per usual in Thailand the whole thing is to be seen to be doing something while doing nothing

Isn't it Hennessy that have twigged to this already and have these amazing adverts on telly where neither the product is mentioned or the bottle imaged but still manage to get the message across that their stuff is way better than Lao Khao?

As for the latter, they NEVER advertise anywhere but they still sell gallons of it.

I wore my "San Miguel" beer t-shirt at the Udon police station all day yesterday while visiting friends. I even helped them with translations of English with expats who needed help and directions. No one said a word.
