Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia has announced that they will join the US and the UK in an international maritime coalition protecting oil tankers threatened by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
A very disappointing step from the toady Australian government, responding to an issue entirely the making of the Bloated Orange Bullshiitter.

Comment from one Australian media source:
Here we go again – joining an American military adventure created by Donald Trump, an adventure that has no end in sight.

Nobody with a sense of history and Liberal Party politics can be surprised that Prime Minister Scott Morrison is donating Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force personnel and assets to a flashpoint created by President Trump and his cabal of warmongers.........

President Trump and his cabal of warmongers
The girly-men Aussie snowflakes are delusional.
How many aircraft have this cabal of warmongers shot down?
How many oil tankers have these warmongers seized?

The sanctions on Iran are across the spectrum and have UN approval. UN Resolution 1696 (2006) demanded that Iran halt its uranium enrichment program. Resolution 1737 (2006) approved sanctions after Iran refused to comply.

Why not demand China and Japan -- the biggest recipients of this oil -- ensure its safe passage? That would make too much sense.

Aussies now joining the Brittles in a quest of strength through weakness? Forever whining about their military obligations.

Where do Australia's oil supplies come from? Australia is currently dependent on imports for more than 90% of its fuel needs. The crude oil comes from the Middle East and is processed at refineries in South Korea, China and Singapore. It is then shipped to Australia as diesel, aviation fuel and petrol.

Seems like a smart move by the Australian Minister to me....Jack.

As an Aussie I applaud PM Morrison for giving the green light too the Oz military to join the US and UK in the Straits. If it comes to some sort of shoot out, then thats the way it is, Iran's military cannot win against those combined forces. As most know, Australia does not have the military might, nowhere near it, so whatever Oz supplies will be appreciated.

Oz needs the oils from the mid east, otherwise we might have to look for the horse and carts for transport. The snowflakes, lefties and greenies might have to learn how to handle a horse or ride a push bike......fooook em I say.

Poor old Giggly - so out of date and touch.
When the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between Iran and the P5+1 was implemented in early 2016, sanctions relief affected the economy of Iran in four principal ways:

1. Release of Iran's frozen funds abroad, estimated at $29 billion, representing approximately one third of Iran's foreign held reserves.
2. The removal of sanctions against exports of Iranian oil.
3. Allow foreign firms to invest in Iran's oil and gas, automobiles, hotels and other sectors.
4. Allow Iran to trade with the rest of the world and use the global banking system such as SWIFT.........

On 16 January 2016, it was announced by the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran had adequately dismantled its nuclear weapons program, allowing for the United Nations to lift sanctions immediately.

But we all know which arrogant arsehat decided unilaterally to tear up the JCPA - thereby putting us in the position we now are. :?
How many aircraft have this cabal of warmongers shot down?
Well only 1 drone apparently - but they have been unable to actually produce any evidence. :^o

You are a smart man Sport. I am going to quote you here Jack, " toady Australian government." How much oil reserves does Australia have? 3 weeks, that's it. The first and foremost responsibility of any Nation's Government is to protect it's Citizens. Citizens of Australia should be up in arms over the fact they only have 3 weeks of reserves. They should applaud the actions of their PM.

colt the Yanks will be there anyway - it's what they do - and the Poms will always follow.

Unfortunately, so does Australia - whose microscopic contribution will not make any difference. And you are correct - the 3 weeks reserve is a disgrace, but you can put that down to the toady government, which has now been in power since 2013.

I haven't noticed Japan or China jumping in, and I gather they are just as dependent on ME oil as Oz. They are probably looking at Trump - as is the rest of the world, with the exception of Saudi Arabia and Israel - shaking their heads, and saying WTF!

Who is Trump protecting - certainly not the US. [-X

The Brittle fools gave up their bargaining chip when the US urged them not to. Bllomi' idiots. Iran still holds a few of theirs.
Trump understands the strait must be kept open to safe passage. The US has the means and the foresight to see that goal is acheived.

Whiny Brittle hand-wringers and their gaggle of commonwealth lackeys can only bitch and moan.

Come on Australia, and buy some Canadian oil from Alberta. The Province is reeling, and in decline, as the oil industry fades away. Help out another friendly member of the Commonwealth.

Jack , i think you will find that China already gets a substantial amount of oil from Iran .
To get round sanctions they trade for goods and services . No money involved .
Hence a country with over 70 million population still has fully stocked shops , new roads , new rail systems , and refurbished and new oil refineries , thanks to this lucrative deal they did a few years ago .
So trumps sanctions aint working , just making China even stronger .

.

Not surprising, really, that while Iran's foreign minister was secretly invited to the G7 to talk with Macron, that Iran was orchestrating a drone attack on Israel from Syria at the same time.

Fortunately, Israeli intelligence was aware of it and had it under surveillance for several months before Israel Air Force jets took out two separate targets on Thursday and Saturday.

"that while Iran's foreign minister was secretly invited to the G7 to talk with Macron,"
I have never understood when a news article hits the news waves that they announce it as a Secret whatever. Its not much of a Secret if it is on the news
As for this article what does the Meeting at the G7 talks with Iran's Foreign Minister have to do with a proposed launching of drone from Syria? Did he hold the button??

But they are as sneaky as a barrel load of monkeys and not to be trusted .

Yes, quite nefarious of the Iranians. The same authority that authorized the foreign minister to go to meet Macron to give some indication of wanting to broker some peace is the same authority supervising the planned drone attack on Israel.

The invitation by Macron was not made public. Only when the foreign minister's plane landed in France on Saturday, and the media reported it, did Macron verify that he had invited the foreign minister.

This shows that the Iranians are very cost and management effective, why have multiple departments

"The invitation by Macron was not made public." because you told us "Not surprising, really, that while Iran's foreign minister was secretly invited to the G7 to talk with Macron"

A secret would not be made public.

Iran making overtures like they want to talk.

I trust them to do a similar tap dance as China on trade.
