And the Trumpster, self appointed Dictator in Chief, has ORDERED U.S. Companies to leave China. If he gets reelected I fear the consequences for the U.S., both economically and the U.S. Constitution."

He has one thing on his mind as he should AMERICA. But the World and eventually America will suffer from his knee jerk decisions Just like his Vodka, Casinos, Air Line etc down the toilet
The only thing on his mind is himself. He cares nothing about the US.

If Trump feels he is going to lose reelection, he will have no qualms about taking down the US economy, to spite those who oppose him. The melt down seems to have begun........why would he joke about a falling market...
You're entitled to your opinion, but you could never be more wrong.

There is nothing to indicate that Trump would want to destroy the US economy or that he is joking about a falling market. You may not agree with his moves regarding trade, but his moves regarding trade have been EXACTLY what has helped to bring more jobs back to the US. Those increased numbers of jobs and increased wages is what has kept Main Street strong through all of this. And Main Street drives the economy.

The stock market is NOT a market driver. The stock market reacts to market drivers and world events. Year-over-year, the S&P 500 is pretty much flat. That's Wall Street, not Main Street; and Main Street has NOT been flat.

I've been investing for decades. I read and watch market moves and news every day. I'm no expert, but I have seen bad daily/weekly events before. I didn't even cash out at the end of 2008 (we're not even close to that at this point). It all bounced back nicely and more. I didn't run for the hills then, and I'm not seeing anything to make me run for the hills now. Other unknown factors could come into play that would make me change my mind, but hypothetical events don't cut it. Be aware. Watch signals, but don't over-react.

You and anyone else can sweat this and start the gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands over it, but I'm not sweating this.

Still lots of slackers in this bunch. Some countries have made great strides to get up to speed and should be congratulated for the effort. Others, not so much. Some have even regressed since 2016 (Belgium, Albania, Croatia).

Outside of the US, only Greece, Estonia, the UK, Romania, Poland and Latvia are the only ones meeting NATO requirements.

Overall, things are better, but a long way still to go.

"Trump continued, saying he would “order” American companies to look for alternatives to manufacturing in China — something the National Retail Federation called “unrealistic.”

“For years, retailers have been diversifying their supply chains, but finding alternative sources is a costly and lengthy process that can take years. It is unrealistic for American retailers to move out of the world's second largest economy, as 95% of the world's consumers live outside our borders,” David French, NRF’s senior vice president of government relations, said in a statement.

“Our presence in China allows us to reach Chinese customers and develop overseas markets. This, in turn, allows us to grow and expand opportunities for American workers, businesses and consumers,” he added in a statement to Yahoo Finance."

Donny T doesnt have a clue!!! As in his own businesses its all "TAKE TAKE FOR ME" the others around me , well, screw them

As for the NRF saying this was "Unrealistic" ohoh you are walking on thin ice there. He will come out to them the same as he did to Denmark. "Who do they think they are ??? They arent talking to me they are talking to the United States"

Just this week from the mouth of the Bloated Orange Bullshiitting socialist:

- "I am the chosen one"

- "When I was visiting the hospitals, doctors came out of the operating room to meet me"

- "The people who were so badly injured........... quite frankly, they love their president......."

- “Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing your companies HOME and making your products in the USA.”

Does that last one sound like the state trying to control the means of production?

Surely even Trump's most obtuse apologists must know by now that not only is he demented, he is also well into dementia.

It's not an enforceable order. It's a warning that China is not a good place to do business with tariffs eliminating the savings they enjoy from less expensive labor.

Businesses have seen escalating trade tensions for at least 18 months. Some have already left China, and others are in various stages of doing so. They should already have a Plan B after 18 months of a deteriorating situation. If not, they stand a good chance of being negatively impacted with risks that they knew existed after choosing to set up shop in a communist country.

Frankly, I'm surprised that all of those LIBs who demonize "greed" so much aren't cheering that these companies are experiencing karma for exploiting cheap labor at the expense of US workers. That's what they always claim. But they're silent now. BECAUSE TRUMP. GET TRUMP.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

So the LIB Thug Mob will forego their assault on corporate America enlisting slave labor (their terms) to focus instead on Trump.

You are welcome to your opinion, and that is all it is LS. You are not qualified to parse the POTUS statements, we all know he meant what he said, and wished he had, or more likely, believes he has the authority to implement it.

And those companies leaving China are going elsewhere in ASIA......Americans still want the lowest prices..whatever the cost to US workers.

And of course as you know 20% of US manufacturing jobs have been lost to international trade, but 80% to automation.....Seems like the real problem is being avoided.....maybe Trump is too dumb to understand.

And lastly what is being done about the real problem with China, its theft of intellectual property???

However, my opinion is based on facts.

- It's not an enforceable order
- tariffs are eliminating the savings business enjoyed through less expensive labor.
- trade tensions have escalated for 18 months
- Some businesses have already left China
- Other businesses are in various stages of leaving China
- the situation in China is deteriorating
- Businesses that remain will be negatively impacted
- LIBs demonize "greed" and attack corporations for leaving the US, but now they're silent (In fact, you are one who always likes to play the "greed" card.)

But let's examine your contradictory claim: You say there's no way that I know what Trump meant by his statement (even though I never claimed to know what he meant), BUT YOU SAY "we all know he meant what he said." Yeah. I get it. YOU know what he meant. Really?
And those companies leaving China are going elsewhere in ASIA......Americans still want the lowest prices..whatever the cost to US workers.
The goal is to pressure China. Being anywhere except China achieves the goal of applying more pressure. There's nothing that indicates that Americans want low prices at the expense of US workers. All Americans want better value in their purchasing, but they also want Americans to be gainfully employed. Americans understand that American jobs are in everyone's best interest. In fact, consumers buying MORE American-made products and services during this time proves otherwise. It's exactly why Main Street has not been impacted and inflation has not occurred.

.

The only two challengers in recent presidential elections who were able to unseat an incumbent president running for re-election were Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Reagan won in a landslide over Carter. Clinton was helped by the vote-split efforts of Ross Perot in defeating GHWB 41. Not many know it, but Clinton didn't have the majority of the popular vote in either of his elections. He had a plurality due to the vote being split by 3rd party candidates.

Those two challengers who beat incumbents running for re-election had a groundswell of support and enthusiasm that not one 2020 Democrat candidate displays -- and Democrats know it. Inspiration, positive message for Main Street, uplifting and enthusiastic? None of 'em.

Biden is leading the Democrat polls, but he is increasingly looking like the default candidate to keep the whole Democrat party from going Left.

The Democrat National Committee is struggling to raise money. The DNC lags far behind Republicans, and just in June 2019, Republicans outdid them by almost 200% in the amount of millions of dollars ($8 million vs almost $21 million).

The DNC is now going into Mexico to raise money. Three fundraisers are planned in Mexico among expats who live there.

Donors will be required to prove US citizenship in order to comply with federal campaign laws.

Donny T appears to have made his point ENFORCEABLE

"But at midnight, as he was flying to France, the president tweeted again, saying that those who “don’t have a clue” about presidential powers should look at the Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977. He added, “Case closed!”

The law says the president is authorized “to regulate international commerce after declaring a national emergency” if there is an “extraordinary threat” to the nation."

Hopefully that is as coherent as one can get for those who need carity

Trump looking to cut $4.3 billion in foreign aid.

The funds were appropriated, but not spent. The majority is from the US Department of State and would limit the amount that the UN would receive.

The package of cuts will be sent to the Congress next week, and there will be a 45 day period for Congress to approve the cuts. The funds will be frozen during that time period. Because there are less than 45 days remaining in the fiscal year, the funds will probably be cut anyway.
