British man killed in Centara Grand Phuket
British man killed in Centara Grand Phuket
A 53 year old Norwegian man, Roger Bullman, who was trained in martial arts has been charged after the death of a 34 year old British man, Amitpal Bajaj, after a dispute over noise from the Norwegians room at 4am at the Centara Grand in Phuket.
There are differing accounts of what happened...
Mr Bajajs wife says Bullman broke into their room via a balcony door and started threatening her and her 18 month old baby and started beating and kicking her husband. She managed to escape and went for help.
Bullman admits breaking into the room but says Mr Baraj stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife.
Bullman then put him in a choke hold but did not realize he had killed him as he was drunk.
Bullman had been causing so much noise that hotel security came to warn him twice.
Bullman has been released on bail and charged with manslaughter and trespass by using violence.

"Bullman" doesn't seem to be a Norwegian name. Too many riff raff staying in 5 star hotels these days.

So , If youve never met the person and only had a name to go on , would you immediately think Amitpal Bajaj must be a good old Anglo Saxon , or maybe a Celt even ?

Wondering about a person's origin based on an uncommon name to the region isn't racist at all. It's just a question.

All depends on the person buddy. Someone might be asking the question, to imply something else. Like only white people come from England, and can be considered British, if you need it spelled out LS.
Your opinion is just that.

Wonder how many American's would be stateless if we only had their name to go off. Not many Dances with Wolves about these days to advise.
Re: British man killed in Centara Grand Phuket
Not when the original article clearly states he is British. The post was either racist or a joke. Given his response was humorous, I assume it was a joke so, move on.

Well he didn’t deny being called out as racist....so it wasn’t a joke...but feel free to move on...
Re: British man killed in Centara Grand Phuket
I've never seen so much ignorance and stupidity on the part of certain people to label someone as racist.
And then the idiotic comparison and phony analogy about names of Americans and states -- where ancestors hail from all over the world -- since the country's birth. America is probably one of few countries where a name common to any origin is not surprising.
And of course, news articles are never wrong. They never make mistakes.
It would be comedy gold if it wasn't so misguided.

Not wanting to be near people of certain origin is not racist in and of itself.

On its face, it might be the result of prejudice, and he is certainly exercising his power to discriminate, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with being racist.
