In 2016 a study showed around 1,700 breweries now operate in the UK, an increase of 8% on the previous year.

Now what is that telling us?
1) They have excess grains available to utilize in the UK
2) More time on their hands to startup Breweries each year
3) Who really cares in the end it means more beer for us
4) Beer, especially dark beer, pours up about a gram of soluble fiber in each 12-ounce bottle. Fiber helps lower your levels of LDL, the "bad" kind of cholesterol.
and
5) Who cares

It's hard to know whether to laugh or cry.
A man from Alabama who was sentenced to life without parole after robbing a bakery of $50.75 in his 20s is to be released after more than three decades in prison.

Alvin Kennard, who was convicted of first degree robbery following the bakery incident, was 22 when he was first imprisoned in 1983........

....... Kennard was given the disproportionately harsh sentence under Alabama’s old Habitual Felony Offender Act, also known as the “three strikes law”. He had previously been sentenced to three years’ probation for three counts of second-degree burglary in relation to one burglary in 1979. The fourth conviction – for the bakery robbery, which was committed with a knife and involved no injuries – meant he had to be sentenced to life without parole.......

It was supposed to be a deterrent to habitual criminals but ended up with people getting life sentences for minor crimes. Imagine getting a life sentence for possession of a wee bit hash. No common sense allowed in sentencing, 'the law is the law'. Sure that was a quote from the Judge Dread movie.

And it should surprise no-one that:
California was one of the first states to pass a three-strikes law. Some 26,000 offenders were incarcerated under the law in its first three years. Black Americans comprised 43 percent of those incarcerated even though they represented only 20 percent of felony arrests and only 7 percent of the state's population. The incarceration rate was thirteen times higher than for whites.

In Georgia 98 percent of offenders serving life sentences under their law were black.

National studies showed that prosecutors were 50 percent more likely to file charges under the three-strikes laws for black offenders than for white.

Something similar could of saved Trump a lot of effort, I mean you don't have many problems with Mexicans down under so it clearly works.

Trump is on the right track with his great wall - after all, you also rarely see a Mexican in China.

Canadians say “sorry” so much that a law was passed so that an apology can’t be used as an admission of guilt.
Canadians are well-known for being incredibly polite, perhaps even to a fault. That’s why in 2009, the province of Ontario passed the “Apology Act,” which states that saying “sorry”—which can be an expression of sympathy or regret—can’t legally be considered an admission of guilt or fault.

The hard earned tax dollar at work once again
I am very sorry to hear that. :D

Excuse me for asking, but have you had a "friend request" recently from someone on facebook called Mr Google or has an old friend passed on and bequeathed you their set of Encyclopedia Britannica?

Some interesting but Useless facts about Mr T Donald I am the chosen one Trump

1) Spy Magazines sent 13 Cent cheques (Checks depending on which language you speak) to some of the World's Richest People to see who would cash them. The only 2 were a Saudi Arabian arms dealer called Adnan Khashoggi and, of course, Donald Trump.

2) In 1999, Trump proposed a one-time tax of 14.25% on individuals with networth $10 million or more and claimed that it would raise $5.7 trillion which can wipe out the national debt. (Doesnt sound Republican to me plus the debt is now at $22 Trillion, no $23T ) He also said that completely paying off national debt would save $200 billion a year in interest payments and that depositing $100 million annually in the Social Security trust fund would generate $3 trillion over the next 30 years.

3) Trump was a registered Democrat between 2001 and 2009. (Difficult to swallow this one he must have had a mental hiccup)

4) Trump is one of the least charitable billionaires in the world and donated $3.7 million to his own charity over a period of 20 years, which is less than what WWE donated to his charity in 2007 alone.

5) As of 2016 Among the 3,500 legal cases that Donald Trump was involved in over the last three decades, 1,900 were against Trump or one of his companies, in 1,450 of them they were defendants, 150 of them were about bankruptcy and other cases. Also, Trump was named in at least 169 lawsuits in the federal court. There were also several other cases in a court in Florida since 1983. The topics of these cases include contract disputes, defamation claims, allegations of sexual harassment and rape, and tax disputes, with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance obtaining tax liens against his properties for nonpayment of taxes.

Switzerland
1) The Swiss produce about 200 million liters of wine per year and consume almost all of it themselves. Since it never goes too far, you can always count on a good homegrown drink and good company. In 2015, the average Swiss drank 56.5 litres of beer and 36 litres of wine.

2) Because Switzerland has such a diverse population, it has declared four national languages: French (20.4%), German (64%), Italian (6.5%), and Romansh (just a little over 1%).

3) Between the 18 Swiss chocolate companies, 172,376 tons of chocolate were made in year 2012. Residents help that number by eating approximately 10kg of chocolate annually

4) The Red Cross. This 97 million volunteer program was founded in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland where its headquarters still remain today.

5) Swiss Army Knife: In 1891, these really were manufactured originally for the Swiss Army. However, the general term "Swiss Army knife" was coined by US soldiers after World War II due to the difficulty they had in pronouncing the German name.
