China still stealing as much as ever.

Trump proven correct again.

US Department of Justice findings reflect more cases being opened regarding trade secret theft by China.
Since when did DOJ's opening a case = guilt? I thought that you can't determine guilt at least until the investigation is complete.

Democrats have removed "due process" since the Kavanaugh hearings.

IMPEACHMENT! FINALLY!

It'll be a wild ride between now and election day. Democrats were reaching the point of no return. If they didn't try now, it would have been a stupid political move in 2020 to try and impeach someone in an election year.

They have realized that all of their attacks on Trump to this point were not stopping the "America First" doctrine from marching on, and they're realizing Trump is on the march to be re-elected. Justices confirmed, the wall being built, economy still chugging along, no crazy wars, "peace through strength" military, fully employed citizenry, etc.

The only way they can probably beat him is to have an impeachment cloud hanging over him between now and election day.

All of that said, they better have something other than BECAUSE TRUMP. There will be just as many rumors and pearl-clutching as there was during the Mueller Investigation. Drama.

Trump and the Ukraine - watch this story develop.
So it appears that the president might have used his official powers — in particular, perhaps the threat of withholding a quarter-billion dollars in military aid — to leverage a foreign government into helping him defeat a potential political opponent in the United States.

Some things to keep in mind:

1. An official impeachment inquiry cannot be unilaterally created by Pelosi.

2. A full vote of the House must be taken that favors impeachment for an official impeachment inquiry to begin. Democrats still don't have the votes.

3. There is no "whistleblower." The person complaining heard the information second hand or further down the information chain. They do not warrant whistleblower status. They are now, simply, a complainer.

4. The person with security clearance who repeated the content of the phone call to the complainer has a big problem.

5. The IG reports that the complainer has a political bias favoring a 2020 candidate vs Trump.

6. Attorney for the complainer has had Schumer and Clinton as clients.

Anyone who has summarily dismissed a source based on their associations or connections would be a hypocrite to ignore the above information on the complainer and attorney.

If associations/connections matter, then they need to be considered all the time when analyzing motivation and the desire for a specific outcome.

The unredacted transcript of the phone call in question should be released within hours. If there is no crime, I fully expect Dems to try to criminalize legal behavior. It won't be the first time.

The Democrats are the undisputed Champions of Unintended Consequences. They do it to themselves all the time with their outlandish over-reach.

I've thought about this a lot today, and if the Dems can pull off the messaging in this Trump impeachment scandal, they could very well be successful in getting rid of Trump. However the collateral damage could be severe. Very ingenious political move -- IF it works -- and could help to defeat Trump in a myriad of ways. A hint to that is that the US stock market reacted to the impeachment call immediately and lost all the gains from earlier in the day. The stock market isn't a driver, but negatives can affect consumer confidence.

First, the impeachment drumbeat and MORE investigations could very well negatively affect consumer confidence, which is the primary market driver of the economy. If consumers start to become unsure and afraid to continue purchasing based only on impeachment, that lack of buying could bring on real signs of recession. That won't be good for Trump politically, but it won't be good for Main Street either. It will also eventually hurt Wall Street when consumers stop buying.

Second, impeachment talk could very well remove all leverage that Trump may have had in any negotiations with any other country. Foreign policy and trade initiatives will suffer if countries see this as weakness and withdraw from agreements or stall until after the election. In the meantime, the entire economy is up in the air. It was okay as long as Congress wasn't getting anything done because Trump continued to hammer things out in a positive direction anyway. Without leverage, more damage could be done over the next year that would harm Trump politically. It could mean no deal with China. If there is a deal, Pelosi probably won't bring it to the floor for a vote -- just as she has done with the USMCA trade deal. Iran, North Korea, Turkey and every other country with an adversarial relationship is all of a sudden -- off the hook if they want to be and perceive weakness.

If Democrats are successful in this political move and the two possible results stated above actually occur, there could be a cascade of negative events that will cause Trump to lose the election. Never mind if there is still no crime. It doesn't matter about crime. It never did matter if there was crime. Democrats have manufactured everything to this point with the help of the media. Why change that strategy now? All that matters is voter perception. The goal has always been to GET TRUMP -- no matter what.

Democrats don't even have to call for an impeachment vote. They can just let this hang over Trump's head until election day if they can successfully drag it out and propagandize their efforts to voters.

In short, this effort could crash the US economy; but it could also result in dire effects on the world economy that is already on the rim of the tank.

All of this proves the point that I've always made. The Democrats hate Trump so much that they're willing to damage the country -- and now for Main Street to be collateral damage -- if their plan is successful.

The biggest kicker of all is that if the Democrats are successful in crashing the economy and defeating Trump, their socialist candidate will further tank the economy beyond recognition if they are successful in implementing all of their socialist, lawless programs and policies.

Politics is an ugly business. Gotta be ready for anything.

FMD - talk about deaf, dumb and blind.

And just how did the world economy get to the "rim of the tank"?

A simple two word name will do for the answer.

You and Ms. Lagarde could be lovebirds. Blame Trump.

Tariffs between the US and China don't affect the economies of the world. Nothing is preventing the rest of the world from trading with anyone. In fact, they're defying the Iran sanctions and trading with Iran anyway, so they have proven that nothing the US does with other countries affects them. Every country in the world has economic issues that have nothing to do with the US or with China. Gotta blame someone before she takes her new position. She needs a scapegoat.

Trump has decoupled Wall Street from Main Street, which is why Main Street is less affected today by setbacks on Wall Street. The stock market is not an economic driver. Main Street drives the markets. The rest of the world has not decoupled Main Street from the Globalist Investors, which is why they all suffer simultaneously for bad decisions of the globalists.

Lagarde has an Aussie ally. Call her and let her know.

Edited for clarity.

Just for your edification, the world is bigger than the EU.

For those struggling like mr. spratt, I will qualify.

Substitute "rest of the world" for EU, and you'll have a better understanding of it.

Why is Trump imposing tariffs on China and how could it affect global economy?

How could it affect the global economy?
The International Monetary Fund has said the US-China trade war is dragging on global growth. Last month it said the conflict would cut growth by 0.1 percentage points in 2019 and 2020 from its April forecasts, at 3.2% and 3.5% respectively. International trade growth has stalled and business investment has been paused because of the uncertainty over trade. Factory output has stalled in several countries including the UK, Germany and Italy, with a knock-on impact on growth. Central banks including the US Federal Reserve and European Central Bank are under pressure to cut interest rates as a consequence.

How do tariffs work?
Tariffs are border taxes imposed by one country or economic bloc on goods shipped from a trading partner. The idea is to drive up the cost of those goods to make them less attractive to consumers than domestic produce. The taxes are paid by buyers of goods when they cross the border into the country imposing the tariff.

As much as you chase me around from thread to thread to troll my posts, you don't seem to read much. Of course, you've said that a few times despite quoting me sometimes to help my argument. I guess sometimes you're telling the truth when you say you don't read.

Hey, genius!

Who has been running the International Monetary Fund (IMF)?

The point is that, once again, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. The one running the IMF has been Christine Lagarde, the same one who last week blamed Trump and tariffs for the economic problems in the EU.

At the rate you're going, you will never achieve the intellectual capacity necessary to be anything other than a troll.

Trump is way ahead of them again. This video hit the airwaves right after Nancy made her hollow announcement.

They talk about impeaching him so that he doesn't get re-elected. When the hell did impeachment ever be about that?
