The 10 baht flights were there on Friday but by the time you added airport tax, domestic flight tax, administration fee, credit card fee, baggage allowance etc. the cost was not dissimilar to the other airlines on the Udon -Bangkok route.
That said, the direct flights Udon-Chiang Rai look interesting, although they are evening flights.

If anyone fancies treating themselves in Chiang Rai I highly recommend the Le Meridean, ideally in the winter when the weather is fresh and air clear.
