This quote is beyond all credibility, 8,000 Thais per day at Mo Chit bus station going home to their provinces!

'The Governor of Bangkok said, however, based on information from passport control and checking identification at travel points that 90% of the travelers were not Thai and were primarily foreign migrants rushing to the borders before a potential impending closure. He believes the majority of Thai people do understand the risk to their relatives and are staying in Bangkok'.

90% You have to be kidding
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Saint, I am with you on this one. We have already seen that the prominent case in Kut Chap was subject to official suppression, no doubt the authorities had their reasons. Meanwhile, hundreds of people visited likely hotspots there, including my family. This could have been avoided, with many many people unaware that they were in a danger zone. In our case, we were already in self isolation mode, minimising risks, wearing masks, cleaning bags and hands, even wiping down ATM cards with alcohol before returning to our car. Others could have been warned to do so. I have zero doubt that there will be a cluster of infections in Kut Chap that could have been minimised if the news was not suppressed

Angela Merkel made a very good broadcast to her nation, her opening point was to be open and honest.

A superior choice in my firm opinion.
How was "the prominent case in Kut Chap... subject to official suppression"?

His self-quarantine in Bangkok was neither compulsory or supervised. AFAIK, unless you are already diagnosed +ve and sequestered in a hospital, none of them are. For now, they are all mostly advisory.

It appears the guy was not forthcoming at least twice on his visits to local hospital(s) for meds before his condition raised a flag and he was punted to Udon. This is seasonal flu time so lying, bluster and mai bpen rai seems to have bought him the time to cross-pollinate his friends and neighbors, not high-government collusion. Shocking but it happened.

You started a thread on this Kut Chap Covid case late afternoon on 21st and by late evening, there are credible, corroborative posts (with rough citations). The following morning 22nd, you are already stating, "As early as this morning, the government was denying this case" (but again without citation). About an hour later still on 22nd, it is all there on Thai Rath, the leading national language rag. Five hours later and still on 22nd, it was on the covid tracker site with all the published citations.

Can you share any information (or a citation) where a government functionary denied or is denying that it happened? Otherwise that's about 16 hours from moobahn gossip to printed fact.... with NO government denials. I reckon that's as good as you are going to get what with the language difference and the need to get some sleep.

Kudos to you and family on all the very practical and pro-active steps you are taking to minimize the risk to yourself and others.

Gentlemen, I have removed some posts which were clearly off topic.

I remind you that criticism or ridicule of the government is prohibited. With the announcement of emergency measures this afternoon, we need to pay even closer attention to that than previously.

Thanks for your assistance in this regard.

The temporary market by the LPG garage on the way to Nong Han ,.open again, Social Distancing and crowds obviously not a problem, as in it does not exist . Saw one or two people I know work in BKK, so the locals are happily spreading it .

In truth places for shopping that are not connected to food will be shut now, one assumes, however individual markets, be they static or temporary are I would say in the GREY area, opening or not in the lap of the GODS or how much certain people are paid to allow them to continue.

Looks like I will have to take a trip there myself at the weekend.
Only want 3 specific items.
Two from Indochina Market and one from a Bar/Restaurant near the Market.

I agree with you Paul but I have to go near Phen in the next few days which is then only 10 Km to Nong Khai.
So I thought I would combine it with a shopping trip to Makro Nong Khai and get the couple of things I need from the Market if it is open.
