power bill reductions (covid-19)
power bill reductions (covid-19)
hi all
this was the news

**********************
For households with a power meter over 5 amps, if their consumption does not exceed 800 units (kilowat hours), they will pay as much as they did in their February bill.
The amount over 800 units will be subject to a 50% discount.
**********************
so i expected our power bill would be the same as in february.
but it wasn't.
non of the deductions were applied to us.
but i see a deduction of 3% for what i don't know.
btw: the meter runs in the name of our thai landlord.
so i wonder what other members personal experiences are…

Well just received ours (15 Amp Meter) = 424 KWHs - 1752 Baht - Discount 52.58 Baht = 3% so make of it what you will. Paid 1387 Baht in Feb?

if a household uses more electricity than what they used in February but does not exceed 800 units, they will pay for the same amount they did in February.
For households that consume 800-3,000 units, they will pay for the same amount they did in February, plus 50 percent of the additional units in excess of their February usage. For households that use more than 3,000 units, a 30 percent discount applies by the same calculation.
There are 3 things related to power,
1) Meter deposit refund, paid into the bank, many have got that or with multiple meters 1 of them.
2) the 3% discount announced about 6 weeks ago, you have got that
3) the big reductions on consumption, the PEA is working on programming it into the system (it was only announced 6 days ago), it almost certainly will not be finalised until early to mid May. Don’t worry it is retroactive and will almost certainly be a credit against future bills not paid into your bank account.

I don’t have FarceBook so know nothing about it. But unless it’s a posting from the PEA it’s likely hot air.samuel wrote: ↑April 27, 2020, 1:12 pmfollowing this discussion on Facebook it appears to be as usual - nothing clear so far…..sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑April 27, 2020, 11:21 am------

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
Been trying to pay our bill since it was issued last Friday without success (KBank phone app). Just been told it's the same through out our Tambon and the bills are being revised, new invoices will be issued on the 4th May?

I did tell you that the PEA was in the process of reprogramming and that it would not be finished until the early part of next month.Bandung_Dero wrote: ↑April 28, 2020, 8:17 amBeen trying to pay our bill since it was issued last Friday without success (KBank phone app). The probability is that the big discounts will be ready by then.

My bill hasn’t appeared in the PEA app either. It’s always been on the 25th of the month

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
Tried to pay my bill last Friday at the Post Office.
Even though it was still within the payment window (for external avenues) they told me to go to the PEA office, which I did yesterday - along with about 50 others.
Clearly something going on.

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
so is it better to pay the April bill and wait for a possible benefit in may's bill
or
is it better not to pay the April bill and wait for a new April bill?

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
You probably cannot pay the April bill yet.
You will receive the same value of discount In the end.

not me.....
Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
Yep, there appears to be a 3% REDUCTION listed under the total of Usage and VAT etc. Not a lot but I am pleasantly surprised.

You can go to
Enter your units used and it will show the bill showing and including the 3% discount for any month that it applies to, it goes back to 2018.

The information you posted was incomplete as units under 800 but over February will also be charged “ The amount over 800 units will be subject to a 50% discount.”samuel wrote: ↑April 28, 2020, 1:20 pmi quoted the section that i thought i would best fit in.sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑April 27, 2020, 11:21 amThe section you quoted is not accurate or complete

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
4th here and slowly going by. Still can't pay and tomorrow is my cutoff date!
If some sort of PEA electrician (& I use the term very loosly) even looks at my meter armed with a screwdriver he'd better be wearing a "cricketers BOX"!!! (for the Americans --- Google is your friend!).

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)
they will give you 30 day's grace for sure, without paying bill, some area will give 60 days, upto boss... before they take the meters they will try and contact owner to make pay the bill, ie phone you "knock" the door... the wife "looks" after 3/4 meters where her family live abroad and never pay charge on time...
