No question #LFC fans are very prickly about The Liver Bird and it's Building belonging to #EFC but they have set the perception of city back decades tonight. Setting fire to the cities most iconic construction. Shameful and deplorable.

I reckon if you asked 747 nicely, he would admit those are not actually his own words. 8)

One man has been charged with assault and another arrested on suspicion of arson after a night of disorder at Liverpool's Pier Head.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire started by a firework caused at least £10,000-worth of damage.

A second man was charged with assault after another man suffered serious head injuries at the mass gathering.

Detectives have charged a 26-year-old man with assault after a 32-year-old man from St Helens suffered serious head injuries after he was assaulted during a mass gathering at the Pier Head in Liverpool City Centre last night.

Craig Campbell, of Lemon Street, Kirkdale, will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 June 2020.

Officers have also arrested a 19-year-old man from Scarisbrick, Lancashire on suspicion of arson after a fire, started by a firework, on the balcony of the Liver Building caused at least £10,000 worth of damage.

The male has been taken to a police station on Merseyside where he will be questioned by detectives.

Initially peaceful if unofficial celebrations of Liverpool's victory in the Premier League on Friday descended into chaos the night time, as smaller elements of the crowd became violent and reckless, with one man filmed launching fireworks at the Liver Building.

And This Article is NOT From The Scummy S*n as THEY Call it..... :-# :-# :-# It IS In fact from The Liverpool Echo....

And as a Famous ORISH Comedian would Say...." Come Here There's More "

Horrific footage shows police attacked with missiles as Liverpool mayor slams 'shameful' scenes
The video showed a group of officers desperately trying to help an injured man

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has expressed dismay after video footage emerged showing yobs throwing bottles at police officers who were trying to help an injured man.

The distressing footage shows thugs throwing missiles at police officers in the Pier Head area late last night as they tried to help an injured man from the floor.

The mobile phone video shows bottles being thrown at police as a crowd of baying yobs cheered and heckled.

The incident took place late last night as a peaceful celebration of Liverpool's historic title win turned very ugly.

This evening Mayor Anderson shared the footage on social media and said: "Police officers were attacked Last night and injured they are public servants doing their job.

"Absolutely shocking behaviour no excuses. If anybody knows anyone please identify them to the Police. 300 fought with police on Strand for over two hours. #shameful."

The footage shows a group of officers trying desperately to help an injured man as a gang of yobs launched missiles at them.

Toward the end of the clip some Liverpool fans could be seen remonstrating with the yobs in a bid to protect the officers. The fans can be seen waving their hands in the air and pleading with them to stop throwing the objects.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has expressed his anger after video footage emerged showing yobs throwing bottles at police officers who were trying to help an injured man.
Today Assistant Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Jon Roy, told the ECHO how the mood at the Pier Head changed very quickly as huge numbers of people poured into the area late at night.

ACC Roy said two of his officers experienced the risk of entering the crowd when a man was subjected to a "nasty assault" at around 9.30pm.

The officers managed to provide medical treatment for the injured man and arrest the offender.

He said: "While they were doing it, they became injured because they came under attack by bottles, people throwing bottles and glasses at them.

"They had to have medical treatment, they are dedicated and professional officers and I am really proud of them, they stayed on duty to the end of the operation because of their commitment to public safety, but they both sustained back injuries.

Liver Building arson arrest

Shameful scenes at the Pier Head
"That was just two officers making a helpful intervention into a crowd, so you can see what my considerations are on a wider scale intervention, and I considered the safest thing was not to go in heavy handed."

In other incidents fireworks were launched at the Liver Building and in the early hours of this morning, groups of men were filmed climbing on a lorry and then kicking and pelting a police van in the area around Castle Street and Brunswick Street.

Around 15 people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder as the city united in condemnation of the violence........And THEY Want A City Wide Bus Tour >>>> Sorry But That would be a BIG....NO From Me & A Lot of Other Scousers Not Just of The Blue Persuasion !!!

The analysis is still very sound. Even the dreaded Liverpool Football Club blasted the perps. If asylum seekers behaved like the louts then the Map's Dad's Army (and Coxo) would have wanted to send in the RAF.

Actually, 747man, no one has been banned from UM in years, since one of the Moderators left. He viewed banning people as an effective way to control the debate. I don't believe in it.

More to the point, you didn't say they weren't, Alan.

Unless you are the Daily Mail, it is considered good social media form - etiquette even - to acknowledge when you have pinched someone else's words.

Plus the fact that a number of UM members may have become confused in thinking that you wrote that.

I think most of us can take comfort that LFC's rabble will need to wait another 20 years or more to 'celebrate' winning the EPL. Klopp's one trick pony will be also-rans next year.

The rest can carry on shooting the messenger.
