^ I can't see any sort of travel bubbles working anywhere while there is no common, global approach to testing, tracking and tracing. Beyond washing one's hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, there's not even a consensus on basic prevention. Different nations have different social distancing rules, business opening, who can trade, etc..

As a person who needs international air travel as a key part of my "9 to 5", I think government's should be focussing on these essential travelers and not tourists. I do around 4 or 5 overseas contracts a year, mostly regional. I fly to work and work to get paid to keep my family fed and clothed. My work enables others to have a job so they can place food on their table.

Currently, there are upward of 270,000 marine crew members who have been stuck on vessels since the start of the year after their planned crew changes in March through to the present became untenable. There's a gradual but very strictly controlled ship's crew change and repatriation regime beginning to unfold globally. This only came around after many weeks of coordinated talks with vessel owners, operators, governments and airlines to dovetail their logistics with the very sparse repatriation flights. Crew members have to do quarantine in place BEFORE they can leave their homes and go to the airport. Crew members have to be tested at least twice, typically three times between getting their fit-to-fly certificates, their transit through third country airports and ports and getting onboard. If they manage to avoid quarantine in transit on the way home, crew members have to either self-isolate or enter government quarantine facilities for 14 days on their return home and be tested at least twice. They do all this because this is their job. Their job is key to keeping the global economy ticking over.

People wanting to take a break in Greece or Ibiza or even Thailand need to consider that a vacation, especially a foreign vacation, is non-essential travel. Maybe government's should see this too and stop dangling these inopportune rewards for the hard-done-by, been on lock-down-for-12-weeks ingrates who want to fly, totally untested and un-quarantined so they can ignore the realities of Covid-19 on a foreign beach or pub or club.

We ain't seen nuthin' yet.

Okinawa demands answers from US after 61 marines contract coronavirus

'... Adding to Okinawans’ concern is quarantining an unidentified number of American service members arriving from mainland US for staff rotations at an off-base hotel due to shortage of space on base, officials said. ...'

Magaluf residents' fury as drunk British holidaymakers 'wear no masks' and 'jump on cars'

''The Brits are back in town, and this time they mean business. Normal service is being resumed after the coronavirus crisis. Some Magaluf residents, though, are distinctly unimpressed.

Majorca’s biggest nightspot was again playing host to familiar scenes over the weekend despite the introduction of a new 'anti-trash' tourism law. It was planned long before the disease struck

But boozing Britons were up to their old tricks: drinking, singing, jumping on parked cars in the party strip on Punta Bellena. There was no face mask in sight, nor any social distancing.

One angry local raged on social media: “Total chaos in Punta Bellena. Hundreds of sons of b***ches from Great Britain. No face masks on, jumping on top of cars, drunk, drinking alcohol in the street. A disaster. Where’s the police? A f**k!ng disgrace.”...''

This is totally crazy.
They are actually holding Covid Parties in the US.
You go to a party where someone who has been diagnosed positive and see if you get infected.
The 30 year old who died thought it was a hoax.

Having worked with Americans for most of my working life, mainly from NYK and Chicago, I can guarantee you they drink just as much as anyone anywhere. In all fairness going to a Covid party is pretty dumb irrespective of your nationality, fact!

And it's extremely dumb for an obese chap in his mid 50s to shake hands with Covid 19 patients and then to put that on the public record. Even Trump isn't that stupid.

After 6 months of virus the odds of dying from it if you get it is about 4%
But could be a lot less as this only confirmed cases to death
Percentage of known cases worldwide 0.17

Regrettably whilst death is the ultimate bad result there is information coming out about the problems that people who have had it are suffering. Even people who had no symptoms are suffering rather nasty effects. The numbers of people who have lasting changes is unknown as it’s far too early to get enough data.

This suggests that not getting it is the safest option, so be thankful that you are here rather than elsewhere.

The Englanders are doing their drunken nonsense in Spain and the Balearics. The 'mercan's are doing it at home.

Unfortunately speaking to many people both here and in other countries, sane intelligent people recognise the problems and act sensibly, but sadly the vast majority, who seem unable to read, and /or understand what they are reading are fighting all and every possible precaution and also refuse to take preventative measures to even protect themselves.

It is these people that pose the threat to us all , I recently saw a video iof a man entering a supermarket NOT wearing a mask and fighting with staff who tried to evict him because he was not wearing one, although the store had clear signs up stating NO masks no entry.
This level of stupidity and ignorance is staggering but also dangerous to most of us thinking intelligent folk worldwide who are trying to stay healthy and have to deal with the consequences of catching this Virus which is still in its infancy and mutating albeit slowly.
I always said we need a cull , sadly Governments will not allow stupid people to die.
