Camera repair

Post by tamada » May 25, 2022, 2:26 pm

I have a Fuji FinePix S9000 eSLR that's been stored without batteries in a camera bag for a few years. Tried it a few days ago and even with fresh batteries, it doesn't power on at all.

Any recommendations for a shop in Udon that can check it out?

WTF Tam, that looks like an olde 35 mm dinosaur that should have been euthanized last century. Got an olde Box Brownie you can borrow if you're desperate and find the film!

I admit it's a bit legacy, only 9 megapixel and eats batteries but it has sentimental value. Took my first 'professional' nudie pix of some ex-girlfriends (hands up who didn't?) way back when I was a stunt double for Kenneth McKellar.

Thanks for the offer but no film needed as it has a whopping 2Gb xD memory card, remember them?

I see there''s a second-hand one on lazada for about 1500 baht.

I had a Sony digital camera that took excellent pictures. Since many phones now have very good cameras, I put in a drawer for a long time with the battery out of the camera. A few weeks ago, I got it out and it too wouldn't work. I don't think it is worth trying to get it repaired.

Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts inside the camera?

here's the answer from my FB contact:
.
Sory about your fuji camera.
I don't know any camera repair shop in Udonthani.
But if the camera is from AV Camera or any other shops in Central Udonthani, you can bring it to them to check or send it to fujifilm Thailand for repair.
If you sure that it have no problem before long keeping in the pocket, you may try to clean the battery contact in your camera or the battery itself.

Thanks for that samuel.

I bought it in the US years ago and I doubt it's worth sending to Fuji. I was hoping for a shop that had the tools for opening it up. The battery contacts are clean but there's a couple of tiny green spots on the base of one of them that suggests that maybe a longtime ago, a battery did leak and the wire behind the contact, inside the camera has probably corroded away. I've got jewelers screwdrivers and a kit for opening tablets and smartphones so I may give it a try myself later.

There's a Fuji Film shop on the corner of Sisuk and Naresuan roads. Not sure if they repair cameras.

I used them for visa pics last year (needed a blue background for Malaysian immigration) and it looked like a portrait studio more than anything else. They do nice work though (great subject matter).

My battery lit up the display but the display was garbled. Even the lens popped out.
