Might seem as hard hearted but this is another example of the absolutely ridiculas policies of the present Government's policies.
The NHS is in crisis with people facing ever increasing waiting times for treatment or even initial consultation yet we can import injured teenagers from Gaza who also come with multiple family members. So queue jumping and the obvious requirement to house and provide benefits while this lad is being treated at our taxpayers expense is now all part of 2 Tier Kiers plan for the UK with his promise to bring even more injured over to be treated by the struggling NHS.
This is being privately funded in its entirety and the surgery is being done by volunteers.

There's no published government policy on what the PM only proposed last week regarding medical treatment in the UK for injured children from Gaza.

Meanwhile, the NHS nurses are going to follow the NHS resident doctors by taking strike action. This despite their already being the recipients of recent, significant, above-inflation pay rises. Those are the "workers" who are denying British people timely access to care and causing the NHS's financial sink hole to widen, not a couple of dozen maimed kids.

Agree that the resident doctors and nurses are taking the piss with their wage demands and strikes.
However Great Ormond Street is an NHS hospital so if the volunteer's wanted to really help they should carry out the surgery at a private hospital. Now theatre time, bed, nursing care is all being diverted in a crisis ridden NHS facility which will impact on availability for someone from the UK. Dont really think that ALL costs will be covered but perhaps thats just me being a bit cynical.
If there was spare capacity in the NHS I would no problem with this but there is a massive shortage of facilities and the skilled people to service existing requirements.

There was never a shortage during the covid scam.
Staff, beds, equipment in plenty of supply. What's changed.
I remember Sydney had 700 beds, never used by the way, ready with ICU equipment.

One of the reasons was Covid. Virtually everything apart from emergency treatments was cancelled/delayed thus adding to the crisis now.
The UK built Nightingale hospitals as well, then suddenly realised there was no staff to man them, NHS staff also succumbed to the COVID "Scam" and other medical issues caused by overworking in hazardous conditions.
There is also the the small problem of massive increases in the population via legal immigrants and illegal invaders.
Its not unusual for seriously ill patients being left on hospital trolley's in corridors etc overnight due to bed shortages.
Bed blocking by people who need care but not in acute facilities but have nowhere to go is also a major problem.
I fear for the future of the NHS in the UK as doesn't seem that any amount of money the Government throws at it the NHS just seems to be swallowed in a the Black Hole that the NHS has become.

Apart from being an NHS hospital, Great Ormond is also recognised globally as the provider of possibly the best surgery, medical treatment and after care for children. I have empathy for a kid who had half his face blown off while he was looking for something to eat in a war zone. Even if another couple of dozen arrive from Gaza, they won't break the NHS any more than it already is.

The NHS is innately corrupt and never was this more apparent than in the many shady dealings that surrounded their response to Covid. I think Serco and Interserve made a few bob from those hospitals that were never used.

My sister was silenced and eventually fired as a whistleblower at an NHS Trust in England, and I reported a Scottish NHS Trust to the Ombudsman for the shockingly poor post-operative care that contributed to my father's death.

The NHS needs one of those "root and branch" eviscerations that the professional politicians spew out at regular intervals but NO government EVER appears to be willing to take action on. Just have another endless enquiry with findings that side step the main issue.

Listening to Starmer's detractors pointing out that his same-day flight on both Air Force One and Marine One accompanying Trump on his Scottish away day, followed by being a prop on a Trump media meeting, made the PM look very much like a guest in his own country.

At least he flew back to London before the opening of the new golf course, where the ultimate "guest in his own country" must be Scotland's First Minister Swinney, who Trump called to take a bow during his opening speech. And the daft bugger did just that.

They just can't help themselves (enough).

Rushanara Ali has resigned as homelessness minister after it emerged she evicted four tenants from a property she owns then re-let it weeks later for £700 more a month. The tenants were told in November last year their fixed-term contract would not be renewed because Ali’s east London home was being put up for sale. Shortly after they left the property, they discovered it had returned to the market with the monthly rent increased from £3,300 to £4,000, the i Paper first reported.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... ion-claims

Jess Barnard, a former chair of Young Labour and a member of Labour’s national executive committee, said: “Seems an appropriate time to reiterate MPs should not be landlords and landlords should not be Labour MPs.”

Yes! Landlords should only be Tory MP's.

Would be interesting to know if this former homelessness minister is also claiming for a housing allowance in her MP's expenses.

Should read Eye and IQ tests for Labour voters.
Just wait until the tax rises needed to pay for the poor refugee (illegal invaders) hotel accommodation and benefits are announced in the budget.

No yet he's not.

Will the Government make it all the way to 2029? In theory this is a simple question to answer. Keir Starmer has a huge majority so there is no prospect of a successful vote of no confidence – in fact the worse his political position becomes the safer he is, as his MPs will not want an election. He has no need to call an election until 2029 and can wait until then, hoping that something will turn up. We should still bet against the Government unravelling before 2029 – but only just. We are getting close to even money territory as it is.

Should have included Lib Dem voters in original post.

He is, it's only a matter of time. Dead man walking is very apt.
Lording over a nation becoming ever more angry at both sides of the political spectrum, staring at an economic meltdown. Not one successful policy of note in a full year.
Very soon all these new Labour MP's will realise that the holy grail of 2 terms in office to qualify for a pension for life is absolutely impossible under the failure that is the tool (makers) son. While they may stumble along with their majority while the UK sinks, I still think he will not see out a full term as Leader and thus PM.

More than likely.
All the little marxists who worshiped Steptoe Corbyn have never gone away, just ducked down for a little while. As soon as they feel safe to start pushing for Angela (I just love to dance/wobble) and Bulldog Lammers to take over the UK politburo they will come out in droves.

Farage in the peanut gallery, proposing changes that will end the ILR immigration status, force a lot of existing ILR'ers to leave, and crush the pound so badly that the British (frozen) pensioners in Thailand will have to go home, leaving their wives and families behind.
