Sales of high-pressured water guns banned during Songkran

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board has prohibited the sales of high-pressured water guns during Songkran.

Mrs. Rasamee Rassamee Wisawathawet, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, says the ban is temporary and Section 36 of the Consumer Safety Act 1979 has been used to enforce this regulation during Songkran. She says a number of people were using high-pressured water guns in the previous festivals, causing injuries to others.

Violators will be fined no more than 500,000 baht, or be imprisoned for five years maximum, or both. People can call 1166 hotline if they see vendors who are selling high-pressured water guns.

yes, but what is the "Thai" definition of a "high-pressured" water gun?
and will every police man know this definition???

they could be talking the Plastic type pump action water squirters, some of those can be powerful, so who will cop the first "half a million baht" fine then......

good point bellmondo, i have heard a few horror storys of people being hit full on in the face, with things thrown other than water.

Me too. Doing 60klm and they probably 40klm, hit me in the guts with a 10 litre bucket of water. 10kilos at a combined speed of 100klm sure knocked the wind out of me. I held on luckily with one hand and one foot. My first Sonkran nobody warned me. Now I go everywhere in a pickup.

Even if sales are suppressed, high-pressure water guns purchased for previous Songkran festivities are likely still around. Don't expect any change in water guns or their use
