I am coming to Udon Thani on March 1, 2017 and would like to play chess often.

Is there a regular meetup location? Individuals who would like to meet?

Regards,
Jim

Hi all, I noticed the last chess post was several years ago - any developments since then, and is the Friday meeting at the Good Corner still going? Thanks, Paul

Hi JJ,
I did not get an answer but I was talking to a guy called 'Scotty' in the Centara spa and apparently there was some kind of arrangement where 2 or 3 people would go to the spa on Fridays then over to the Good Corner for lunch, and then if somebody had remembered to bring a chessboard apparently a game would break out after lunch on occasion. Personally, I'll be back in Udon for 6 months from September 11th, so please message me if you are still around and would like a game or two.
Cheers, Paul

The Good Corner club is for higher level players. \:D/

It's n-o-t spells NOT for beginners & lower level players: no ongoing coaching is given, all games are timed/clocked to 10 minutes, thrashings are continual, and post game analyses are whirlwinds. :sleepy:

I'm up for playing with fellow lower-level players. :D

No clocks/timers, though. [-X

There are at least two peaceful places on Nong Bua that are ideal for 2 to 10 players meeting up for daytime games. Plenty of parking, clean toilets, shelter from sun & rain, cheap drinks, snacks & nearby local food sellers, friendly locals who mind their own business, hardly any traffic, and no music or loud TVs. \:D/

Sounds good - if you message me I'll be available any time after September 11th (I'm staying in 9D Sports). Not sure about no timer though, what if you get somebody who just doesn't move for hours cuz they are in a losing position?? 😆

I'll be in touch. :D

And to avoid games taking too long, a simple gentleman's agreement gets rid of the need for using distracting & stressful timers. :pirate:

If you're an advanced player, YES. =D>

Otherwise, myself & a few other lower level players are looking for something a little less highbrow, and more fun. \:D/
