‘We’re tired of being right’ about the border, budget director says on Trump’s new wall money request

March 11, 2019
Source: CNBC
Russell Vought, acting White House budget director, said Monday security at the southern U.S. border is “deteriorating by the day,” and he’s blaming Democrats for refusing to approve President Donald Trump’s repeated requests for wall funding.

“This is an area of where we’re tired of being right,” Vought said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box, ” referring to a government report of a record number of migrant families crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The White House is expected to release Trump’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2020 on Monday. It is expected to seek $8.6 billion from Congress for additional barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border.

That amount would be on top of the funds Trump will redirect from other programs as part of his national emergency, said Vought, who’s minding the Office of Management and Budget after previous OMB head Mick Mulvaney left the agency to become the president’s acting chief of staff.

Trump’s declaration last month, aimed at circumventing Congress to pay for his wall, is currently being challenged by more than a dozen states. The states said Trump is “trying to rob funds that were allocated by Congress legally to various states.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said they had hoped Trump “learned his lesson” after failing to get his wall funding following the partial government shutdown earlier this year.

“Congress refused to fund his wall and he was forced to admit defeat and reopen the government. The same thing will repeat itself if he tries this again,” they said in a joint statement Sunday.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, more than 76,000 migrants crossed the U.S.-Mexico border last month, more than double the number from the same period last year. The figures help Trump’s case for his border emergency, albeit one built around a humanitarian crisis and not security.

Thoughts and Prayers for New Zealand before Veto Signing in the Oval Office

=====

Attorney General Bill Barr defends the National Emergency declaration

Remarks made at the veto signing in the Oval Office.
Mr. President, your declaration of an emergency on the southern border was clearly authorized under the law and consistent with past precedent.

As you said, the National Emergencies Act directly authorizes the President, and gives broad discretionary authority to the President, to identify and respond to emergent circumstances that require a decisive response.

And the humanitarian and security crisis we have on the border right now is exactly the kind of emergency that Presidents are permitted to address under the National Emergencies Act.

Another Originalist Judge Confirmed!

This past week Neomi Rao was confirmed by the US Senate to replace Brett Kavanaugh on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. It is considered to be the most prestigious of the federal courts just below SCOTUS because it often entertains cases that involve regulatory and political cases that address the power of the federal government.

Rao is a graduate of Yale and received her law degree from the University of Chicago, which is considered to be in the top 10 of law schools in the US. She has also served as a clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas on the SCOTUS.

Rao is a star Originalist, only 45 years old, and will be ruling on issues for decades.

I look forward to the continued nomination and confirmation of Originalist judges in the US Senate!

STEADY WINNING for AMERICA.

No one should talk like this let alone a President
Encouraging people to harm others

Trump Encourages Violence From His Supporters. They’re Listening.
Sebastian Murdock,HuffPost Sat, Mar 16 1:30 AM GMT+7

President Donald Trump this week issued a thinly veiled threat of violence against his opponents, saying that members of the police, military and biker gangs could “play it tough” if they “reach a certain point.”
It was a disturbing remark, but even more disturbing is the fact that it’s part of a long history of Trump encouraging his supporters to engage in violence. Largely unchecked by his party’s leadership, Trump’s rhetoric has become normalized despite its real-world ramifications.
“I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of Bikers for Trump,” Trump told Breitbart in the interview, which he later tweeted. “I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”

Trump urges General Motors to reopen Ohio plant in tweet
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump urged General Motors Co to reopen Ohio plant in a tweet on Saturday, ten days after the plant made its last Chevrolet Cruze.
The last Cruze rolled off the assembly line a week ago Wednesday at GM's plant in Lordstown, Ohio, the first of five plants in North America to end production this year and ending U.S. production of the Cruze.
In a tweet, Trump said "Because the economy is so good, General Motors must get their Lordstown, Ohio, plant open, maybe in a different form or with a new owner, FAST!"
Trump added "Toyota is investing 13.5 $Billion in U.S., others likewise. G.M. MUST ACT QUICKLY. Time is of the essence!"
Over five years Toyota plans to invest nearly $13 billion.
GM did not immediately respond to requests for comment late Saturday.

What is a Politician (or that is what he calls himself) getting into the running of a business (General Motors)? I thought only a Socialist country dictated who and what went where i.e. Stalin

This should be left up to the CEO and Board of Directors to decide the fate of their company

As usual, the brigadiers don't do their research. I'm not going to do it for you because you have already admitted that you don't read anyway. Here's a hint: the GM bailout and bankruptcy foolishness from 2008 and 2009 that was orchestrated by GWB and Bayrack picking winners and losers with taxpayer funds.

Only after you do that will you understand why Trump -- a capitalist and believer in free enterprise to his core -- is voicing displeasure with GM's closures and layoffs. GM wouldn't even be around today if it were not for the taxpayer revenue provided to them by the federal government.

Personally, I would have allowed GM to fail, which is part of the free market system. Make a crappy product, people don't buy it, go out of business -- or file under the same bankruptcy procedure as everyone else and reorganize. Had GM done that, there would be no reason for federal government involvement. Bayrack even gave the unions some control of the company. Gee, yeah, that's a cute stunt.

Read up, geniuses.

"Only after you do that will you understand why Trump -- a capitalist and believer in free enterprise to his core -- is voicing displeasure with GM's closures and layoffs."

OR

"Rep. Maxine Waters, the California Democrat who runs the powerful House Financial Services Committee, called for the removal of Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan after news that he received a $2 million bonus as part of his 2018 pay package.

The San Francisco-based bank disclosed Sloan's compensation late Wednesday, revealing that the executive got a 5 percent increase in total pay to $18.4 million, including the $2 million bonus, for his work in 2018.

"It is outrageous and wholly inappropriate that the bank has rewarded Mr. Sloan with a $2 million bonus for 2018," Waters said in an emailed statement. She pointed out that last year, "federal regulators and authorities capped the bank's growth and fined the bank more than $3 billion for offenses such as improperly charging customers auto insurance and mortgage fees.""

Remember where this came from????

Only after you do that will you understand why Rep Waters -- a capitalist and believer in free enterprise to her core -- is voicing displeasure with Wells Fargo and their decision to pay out a massive $2,000,000 bonus after being caught cheating Customers "

Except Waters is a socialist and salaries of employees of private companies is not part of congressional oversight.

Over these many weeks, it is apparent that you don't possess the knowledge or the intellect to discuss these issues. You're a troll. You prove it regularly.

No I am making a point that Politicians are elected by the people to protect what they have and not to let Business rule the masses such as in the Mortgage Bust Also Wells Fargo works for the Federal Government in Administering Student Loans and therefore should have the right to criticize Wells Fargo when they spit out Millions of Dollars to the CEO

But we all know that Stupid Politicians come from Stupid Voters (George Carlin)

Watch the video I posted form 1943 and realize the similarities nowadays that are still present

I may not know all of the ins and outs of the USA Political system (as I dont care) but I do relaize when someone (who will remain nameless) continues to regergitate useless information to the readers of Udonmap.

I dont consider me being a troll when I research your statements and frequently find out you have misquoted or omitted information therfore misleading the reader once again (Fake NEWS)

Sure they can criticize, but Wells Fargo stockholders and their board of directors decide salaries, not Maxine. If Wells Fargo has regulatory problems, then fine them. If they can't administer loans properly, take student loans away from them. Included in any federal regulation penalties is NOT determining what a CEO makes in salary or bonuses.

You were wrong about Maxine. Plain and simple.
But we all know that Stupid Politicians come from Stupid Voters (George Carlin)
Great that a comedian is your source.

Do you watch your videos for longer periods than you read? If that video is over 5 minutes long, you didn't even watch it all; and unlike you, I don't chase you around the forum to see what you've posted, read it and comment on it. Your video was one such post that I chose to ignore. You don't live in my head rent free -- as I apparently do in that tiny brigadier skull of yours.
I may not know all of the ins and outs of the USA Political system (as I dont care) but I do relaize when someone (who will remain nameless) continues to regergitate useless information to the readers of Udonmap.
Ins and outs? You know enough to maybe fill a thimble -- and what you read at Huffpo. But that doesn't stop you from being in here every damn day with useless, incorrect and mischaracterized crap that almost always has to be corrected because you didn't take the time to research/learn anything before you engaged that keyboard. Why? Because you're still trying to play that gotcha game, and you only experience it when the GOTCHA victim is you. That emotion issue is still controlling you.
I dont consider me being a troll when I research your statements and frequently find out you have misquoted or omitted information therfore misleading the reader once again (Fake NEWS)
Part of being a troll is admitting that you don't care because you "didn't bother to read" and admitting that you "really don't care about the topic anyway" that is being discussed. I don't know of any other way to characterize responses like that. And when you get stung due to your own ignorance, all of a sudden what I post is "drivel" and you just don't have time to read it all. You sure spend a helluva lot of time chasing me around this forum to claim that you don't have time. Troll.

That applies to the crybabies whose eyes hurt because they see things that hurt their feelings. They don't want to see it, read it or comment on it. They want it to go away. Censor it. Remove it. That's never been me.

I'm not going to sit here and allow you to make incorrect assessments of situations that occur in the US. I correct it when I see it -- only because you like to post in topics where I post.

Just because someone doesn't post in a thread doesn't mean the thread isn't being read. Next time you're rolling through here looking for something to do, go check out the number of VIEWS in each thread. If there's double digit posts and quadruple digit views, members are reading the hell out of it and just not posting. I don’t want them depending on you to get some understanding of what's going on in the US. You're dead a55 wrong 9 times out of 10.
