I was in Houston when they were awarded a MLS (major league soccer) franchise and their first pick team name was "Houston 1836" to reflect the year in which the city and state was founded.

The early-years wokeists reckoned the large, local Hispanic community would be incensed, as Houston and Texas had fought a bloody war of independence from Mexico. I was there in 2005, and they weren't but they were looking forward to having "proper football" on their doorstep. Thus, they were hastily renamed "Houston Dynamo" with the lame excuse that this was a reference to famous European football team names. Nobody was too upset that the likes of Dinamo Zagreb, KF Dinamo Tirana, FC Dynamo Kyiv, FC Dinamo București, Dynamo Moscow, SV Dynamo and most all of these "great" team names were from the satellites of the former Soviet bloc with all of the shady Cold War inferences that came with it. For example, there was never any Dynamo Lisbon or Tottenham Dynamo.

It's a pity that Dallas had already garnered the right to being called 'cowboys' in another sporting genre.

Article about issues at Newark airport. Not very interesting until you read "multiple employees going on trauma leave". Poor souls.

I've read so many posts on here about nasty fat cat employers and the poor working man. Seems to me that those posters have never run a business in the 21st century. This is the reality of the workforce nowadays. If you can't hack it in air control, go run a poodle parlour.

Man carrying home his gardening tools arrested by armed police in Manchester

Samuel Rowe, who was returning from allotment, seeking to overturn caution for possession of offensive weapon.

When he was arrested, Rowe said, the officer pulled the trowel out of its sheath, and said: “That’s not a garden tool.”

Rowe said police had questioned him on whether he was “planning on doing something” with the tools, and he said he was also asked to explain what an allotment was.

Patients coming off weight loss injections will need support for at least a year.

https://www.bmj.com/content/390/bmj.r1646

Really? Good grief! Who would have thought that shooting up with a drug that reduces your weight while eating and drinking the same rubbish and not exercising would all end in tears when the prescription expires?

Why should the UK taxpayer foot the bill for this? A whole year to work on the fact that your vanity was only slightly larger than your waistline due to your sloth and indolence and general bad habits? What next, claiming PTSD just because you didn't listen to advice and got fat again?

Britain’s first transgender judge takes UK to European court over Supreme Court ruling on biological sex.

"Lawyers acting on behalf of Dr Victoria McCloud, 55, who stood down last year, filed an appeal in the ECHR arguing a breach of her rights under article six of the European Convention on Human Rights – the right to a fair and impartial hearing by an independent tribunal...

Representing her is Oscar Davies, the UK’s first openly non-binary barrister and Olivia Campbell-Cavendish, the founder and executive director of the Trans Legal Clinic and the first black trans lawyer in the UK. This is the first case in history to be brought by a trans-led legal team. ..."

Just watched our Prime Minister telling the world that every family in the UK has been effected by the illegal invasion of Ukraine. No it hasny. Not insignificant that the left wing halfwits Starlin and Ursala were at the bottom of the queue. There was us thinking we were clever.

Another example of time and money wasted
" MONTREAL — The Quebec government says it is planning to ban prayer in public places as part of a move to strengthen secularism in the province."

secularism (noun)
the principle of separation of the state from religious institutions:
"he believes that secularism means no discrimination against anybody in the name of religion"

Here's one more that should either tickle the sides or raise the hackles on anyone who enjoys a life at sea.

‘Man overboard’ is offensive term, says Royal Yachting Association.

The phrase “man overboard” is an offensive term that should be avoided, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) has said.

The national governing body for sailing, which was founded in 1875, has suggested that it should instead be replaced with “person in water” in an inclusive language guide."

I am offshore at the moment and we have four split-tails on this crew. I am sure that they won't be offended if we momentarily call them a 'man' if we have to rescue them from the oggin.

Sheesh...can I even call them split-tails?

PS: I'm not enjoying it as much anymore.

I do agree that mother nature sometimes makes mistakes and gets her wires crossed. However, the fact remains that if someone is born with a penis, he is a male. Sorry. Cutting it off does not change his gender.

50 years ago it was the seat belt that they made us wear. Today we are still arguing with people to wear their belts
I know after having my car rear ended and totaled in an accident that they are a great asset to have and use.

An illegal invader (boat people who come from war torn France) has just been sentenced to 12 months in jail by our 2 Tier justice system.
Found guilty of actual sexual assault of a 14 year old girl, the attempted sexual assault of the same child the day previously and the sexual assault of an adult woman.
Keep in mind that people who posted nasty words on social media and someone who shouted at a police dog received more than twice the time sentences from the non biased Government and Judiciary.
Looking forwards to the hand wringers talking their way out of this one.

Not disagreeing with the appallingly light sentencing, but maybe your observations and opinions on UK politics will get more forum traction in:-

Does it really matter which of the two threads this travesty of common sense is posted on. I thought this one was closer to the FFS feelings I have.

Now here's some more woke appeasing nonsense from the BBC.

BBC rebukes newsreader who corrected ‘pregnant people’ to ‘women’

Broadcaster says Martine Croxall expressed ‘controversial view about trans people’ after she went viral for changing script.

A newsreader who went viral after she made a face while changing the word “pregnant people” to “women” during a live broadcast has been found to have broken BBC impartiality rules.

Martine Croxall made the expression as she changed her script in an introduction to an interview with an assistant professor about groups most at risk during UK heatwaves.

I guess if she so choses, she can always quit and cross the floor to GB News... but I think she's above that awful rabble, and will fit in well at Sky.

Damien Richardson, was charged with performing the banned gesture
Over three days this week, the 56-year-old appeared in the Moorabbin Magistrates Court to challenge the charge.

On Friday afternoon, magistrate Justin Foster found Richardson guilty of performing a gesture that could be confused with a Nazi salute, but was not a Nazi salute.
Richardson will return to court on December 4 for submissions on sentence.

The awful rabble you refer too at least have one raving far left loony offering their alternative version of cloud cuckoo land on most programmes. Whereas the far left BBC and Sky only offer their tainted leftist/racist views for consumption by the gullible.
Doesn't give her a lot of options.
Imagine getting into trouble for saying a pregnant woman instead of pregnant person? What/s next a visit from a team of armed police officers to ask her kids if mummy says other bad words.

When France fell to the Germans Citron was producing cars and had to continue for the Germans
To make their mark for the war effort the French sabotaged the vehicles by lowering the oil fill line of the dipsticks.
After travel the engines would seize due to the lack of engine oil
