Note from Mod: This is potentially useful/interesting information from reliable sources. It's a statistical analysis based on
The Report of the WHO-China Joint Mission published on Feb. 28 by WHO, which is based on 55,924 laboratory confirmed cases. The report notes that "The Joint Mission acknowledges the known challenges and biases of reporting crude CFR early in an epidemic"
and
A paper by the Chinese CCDC released on Feb. 17, which is based on 72,314 confirmed, suspected, and asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in China as of Feb. 11, and was published in the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology
To keep things in perspective, please remember that this is only a statistical analysis. Statistics can sometimes be useful in understanding phenomena, but sometimes they can add to the confusion. Remember, one can usually get statistics to say what you want them to say. That said, the WHO is a reliable organization, at least IMO.
This may help put some perspective on the fatality risk of catching Covid 19

Assuming the Link below is reasonably accurate (I am not saying it is a 100% correct), then the majority risk of the virus being fatal, clearly rests with those 60 years and Over

From 0 - 39 Years old it reads 0.2% or 2 people in every 1000
From 40 - 49 Years old it reads 0.4% or 4 people in every 1000
From 50 - 59 Years old it reads 1.3% or 13 people in every 1000

If I was in the age group 0 - 59, I would be reasonably comfortable that my Fatal Lottery Ticket would not come up. I wouldn't panic as many younger people are but obviously take precautions. Certainly those under 49 years old have a lot less to worry about than those over 49 years of old

It is clear the risk of fatality increases with age, for a number of reasons and that those in the 60 to 100 year old range become more and more vulnerable.

From what I can find out approx 14 % of the worlds current people are over 60 years old which equates to;

Current WP 7.772 Billion x 14% = 1,080,800,000 people in that above 60 years old, higher category risk, than those of the under 59 age group

Its hard to accurately work out, but it appears that only 4.00 Million are aged over 80 (in that very high risk) and the vast majority of this more elderly population - the other 1,076,000 Billion people, sit in the age group 60 - 79 (many of then from the Baby Boomer generation, born 1946 to 1964).

We from the 1.076 Billion group sit in the 3.6% (for 60-69) and 8.0% (70 - 79) average statistic, for Fatality from Covid 19 Virus and again, a lot depends on our current health Status.

A a 63 years old, I suppose have a 3 to 4 in 100 chance, of dying if I contract the virus and arguably if I am of average to poor health. Obviously if I am in better heath and take all the precautions to first reduce the risk of catching it then I can reduce the likelihood of being one of those 3 to 4 people.

I realize this in only statistical, but for those with children, it may be of interest

So far, social distancing and self-isolation are the only ways to avoid the Wuhan flu.

A post from another thread from tinpeeba, I think it’s an important read.

How corona virus can overtake your body before you know it.

Most governments are advocating a 2 meter distance between people to avoid the transmission of the virus, sound advice IMO.

A VERY important number, it might be a great idea to save it somewhere you can get easy access to it

Good find there Vince, thanks. Everyone should save the graphic on their smartphone AND enter the number in their hot-dial list.

Please note that you can only have your personal medical emergency between 8 AM and 8 PM.

I recall recently reading that part of the ultimately unsuccessful treatment of Thailand's first identified Covid-19 victim (the guy that may have had dengue as a complicating factor) included the white blood cell replacement. The article didn't specifically state if the leukocytes used came from a recovered Covid-19 victim or a recovered flu victim.

Coronavirus: State Of Emergency Declared In Thailand By PM Prayut, With Tough New Restrictions

From The Straights Times

BANGKOK - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared a state of emergency over the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday (March 25), unveiling tougher restrictions on normal life in Thailand as the Ministry of Public Health confirmed 107 new infections in the country over a 24-hour period.

The emergency will come into effect nationwide from midnight on Wednesday and remain in force until April 30.

The decree has barred travel to Thailand via land, sea and air, though certain exceptions have been made for goods transportation, diplomatic missions and foreigners with work permits. In addition, Thai citizens with embassy permits and health certificates, besides any other journey approved by the Prime Minister, will be exempt from the travel ban.

All nightclubs, playgrounds and sports venues in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon - which were adjudged to pose a high risk of infection - were ordered to close down indefinitely, as were spas, gyms and massage parlours, reported Khaosod English.

Under the emergency decree, hoarding of food, drinking water and medical supplies will be punished.

People aged younger than five and older than 70 - who are seen to be more vulnerable to the disease - have also been told to avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary.

The decree suggested that these vulnerable people should venture outside only for essential activities, such as medical appointments, banking activities, the purchase of food, to contact the police or carry out law enforcement orders.

People with pre-existing conditions were also asked to stay indoors. All large gatherings have been banned.

Commuting between provinces has been discouraged, and people who travel to other provinces will be required to undergo health checks and furnish their personal details for possible quarantine.

Violation of the provisions of the decree can be punished with a jail term of up to two months under the 2005 Royal Decree on Emergency Situations. In addition, any other acts that are not covered by the decree but are seen to jeopardise public health and safety will be punishable under existing laws.

There was no mention of a curfew in the emergency decree, but it provided security officers with immunity from prosecution when carrying out orders issued by their superiors in relation to the outbreak.

Establishments providing essential goods and services will continue to operate, including banks, factories, markets, financial institutions, gas stations and online delivery services.

The emergency authorises Mr Prayut to helm efforts to fight the virus with the help of the permanent secretaries of public health, interior, commerce and foreign affairs.

The commander of the armed forces has been given the responsibility of handing security-related matters.

"Only necessary measures will be issued, to prevent the spread of the virus," the announcement said, according to the Bangkok Post.

As part of the effort to combat Covid-19, a centre that was set up to handle matters related to the disease will be redesignated as a Covid Emergency Centre, under which various committees will be set up to monitor the implementation of various directives.

The declaration of a state of emergency has raised concerns about the possibility of the decree being used to crack down on dissidents.

Meanwhile, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Thailand has risen to 934 following the latest cases.

Of these, 860 cases involved patients under treatment, 70 people had recovered and been discharged, and there have been four deaths.

The cases can be divided into three groups, according to Dr Taweesin.

Infections in the first group of 27 cases were connected to infection clusters: four had attended a boxing event in a stadium, five had worked in or been to entertainment venues, four had attended religious ceremonies and 14 had been in close contact with others previously confirmed as infected.

Among the individuals in the first cluster were a freelancer, a company employee, merchant, students, taxi drivers, police and prisoners.

The second group comprised 13 people, of whom six had just returned from overseas (two Thais and a Briton, Finn, American, and German). Meanwhile, five were working in crowded areas or close to foreigners. Two members of the group were doctors - one was a surgeon who displayed mild symptoms after working with 25 medical staff, who now need to self-quarantine.

People in the last group of 67 are still being investigated over how they were infected.

Meanwhile, 13 people were the latest to fully recover from the disease and return home.

In a separate development, about 60,000 migrant workers living in Thailand have fled the country since the authorities shut malls and many businesses at the weekend to curb the spread of the coronavirus, a Thai interior ministry official said on Wednesday, reported Reuters.

A Thai interior ministry official told Reuters about 60,000 migrant workers from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar had returned home as of Tuesday.

Roadblocks to be set up
Checkpoints, not roadblocks.

"Inter-provincial border checkpoints to be deployed from midnight of March 25"

While all the info posted is of great use, what we do NOT HAVE
Any way to contact the Local Authorities to report infractions.

Some-one said tell the Police, well I did that and it proved completely useless, the same as talking to POTUS in the States, waste of time.

Here they hold gatherings etc, temp markets open up and close, all while we are all supposed to be keeping a low profile by staying at home.

So to whom and where and how do we report , or do we just watch and wait for a 24 hr curfew to be imp;osed because the population are so damn stupid .

Anyone any info for contacting the authorities ?
