If you are in & around Udon then it does get a bit chilly at night.
Certainly don't need air con on - but don't exactly need central heating either!!
Probably long trousers & long sleeve thick shirt (rather than light cotton type) when out and about at night. Do get the odd night when a jumper/thick sweat shirt is probably needed.
If you are going to somewhere like Chang Mai/Rai and are up in the hills at night then certainly can need a reasonable coat as well.
To me, personally, (but must remember I am from UK :D ) this is just the nicest time in Thailand weather wise. not too hot, not too wet, can certainly stroll farther & easier than most parts of the year - but it isn't cold in Udon as I would call cold :D :D

i wouldn't pack too many warm clothes. depending how long visit is. daytimes will be nice, nights maybe 20's but rarely below. on a motorbike or in tuk tuk at night, the wind will chill you a bit.

last couple xmas get togethers, i wore a blended wool suit, :-$ :-$ :-$ , same one, :-$ :-$ :-$ , don't tell anyone. maybe good for one more wearing. anyway, one year comfortable, last year or before, too hot, actually stopped at hotel for quick change before next venue. one year, same time, abouts, friend came to visit, and temp dipped a bit at night and we were tuk tuking the bars, quite chilly, so i simply bought a 200 baht jacket from night market, as we started there. actually turned out to be a decent jacket, lasting few years and a few wearings. will use a lot this year, my motorbike jacket, ruin that with the smell of fumes first, till the zippers start failing.

so pack light, nothing here you can't buy if you need, and then just leave it here for next trip.

enjoy. 8)

As LA suggested, pack light. If in need of emergency warm clothing, places like night market or Bo-Bay have tons of clothing at a fraction of the cost you would pay in your home country. I have friends who bring empty duffle bags to Thailand just to fill them up with clothing to take back home.

Like Bob Helm stated, I almost never find it too cold here in Udon. The only exceptions would be if you happened to get wet or were riding in a pickup bed or on a motorcycle at night. For me, the most pleasant time of the year is November thru February. Most ex-pats I know say the same.

I see the little weather box on the forum home page is indicating stormy weather for UTH with a temperature of -18 deg C. Wrap up warm, campers.

Sensible slacks - not tropical shorts for tonight, chaps.

Yes captain Westerby sir, tonight one did dress in winter fatigues of long pants and even a jacket... Out of respect both black which was lucky as I did just about bump into the princess as she strolled around Nong Prajak. One of her guards was a little touchy feely with me... Oo 'er missus!

According to the BBC weather website, the weather in Udon will dip to 16c tonight but then will gradually get warmer and predicted as 22c on Monday night.
I,too, was in Nong Prajak park last night and saw the princess.Maybe if you were dressed in all black at night it made her guards nervous and they thought you might be a farang gangster ! :D
For me,long sleeved shirt and shorts....not that cold yet......around New Year it generally dips to around 10c so thats when the jeans come out.....just bred tougher in the north,I guess. 8)
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

in past week a noticeable drop in temps overnight.........................it's great. no ac or fan while sleeping, little blanket, little cuddle, even have to wear a jacket on morning school run via motorbike. loving it. scoot around in the afternoon and it's very comfy with just shorts and t-shirt. of course Ree has a chill and light jacket, while sitting behind this large wind block, but hey, TIT. went down to lake with long pants and heavy flannel shirt at about 7 last night, still too warm, sweating. so temps aren't dropping till midnight-ish. fool moon, little party at local lake, actually rather large for small village, music and dancing lasses, and no nong prajack madness, walking distance from house. lovely

Had to dig out a jacket and sweater the other day. Even wore some long pants the other day. Guess summer is coming to an end.

One of my favorite computer startups is the current temperature on my desktop. There is a free version for the desktop or as add ons for Firefox or Internet Explorer. I like the satellite views and 10 day forecasts, too.

Smashing weather, just like a UK summer (without the rain). Just wish it was like this all year round not to mention the savings on the AC.

It has been quite chilly here lately. My thermometer read 19C (66F-76F) this morning in the house. The evenings are very chilly, I've been wearing my fleece jacket.

Just took a look there myself and apparently visibility is down to 0.1Klm ...... just realised it's probably because it's night time now... :sleepy:

I'm loving the weather forecast for Udon, almost the same temperatures as we are experiencing in Perth now, that means no acclimatisation needed, excellent, see you all on Wednesday :D

I've managed to get by with just a couple of jumpers in the last few years, but this year seems to be noticably colder already
Suppose it must be middle age creeping up on me :yikes:
