Good musicians, (including myself).......One off!

But a real good evening!
Expensive? Not so much really.Who pays for the band?

The Most Beautiful Restaurant in Udon

Post by milkman » September 15, 2014, 7:01 pm

My wife and I had lunch at Tha Naam Lakeside Restaurant today. They have developed the property- and it is lovely! Lots of tables beautifully laid out under canapes. Lots right next to the lake, though every table has a water view. We went into the A/C room, which also had beautiful views. Food was great too- My wife had a yummy pad thai and I had an excellent pad sei yew. Price was about the same as at every other restaurant, but they give you so much more. I've never been but hear the place looks magical at night and features live music. Can't believe there's a place like this in Udon. This restaurant should be everyone's #1 choice!

My wife and I went the other day for lunch, the place was practically deserted. The food was excellent, as was the service. I had the largest pork chop I've ever seen. My wife had pa jum, said it was very good. A very nice atmosphere, I'd highly recommend it also. :D

Owner Dave and his wife are not only perfect hosts - he is a musician himself. Building up this restaurant shortly before they started to develop the big lake area...I think his wife must have good connections and knew about that before. Well done! I can recommend it as well.

Interesting. Of course, you are in the topic as evidenced by your post, so I really am not sure.

I tried posting the following message along these lines, 'I visited that restaurant, or one like it, around 2007 that was outside Udon and near a river. The food (seafood) was excellent, the atmosphere was great, but I do not recall any band. There were quite a few customers too."

After clicking submit on three different tries, I got the this topic does not exist message. However, the one posted a few minutes later made it through. I don't get it either. Maybe, 'it' was making the changeover from 'the most beautiful restaurant in Udon' to this title.

Yes, that would explain it. We combined that thread with the already existing thread for Tha Naam.

My wife and I went there for lunch today, and it was nothing but fabulous! It's right by the lake, looks beautiful! Food was terrific, at same price as other restaurants in town, which is to say, not much. We were the only customers when we went around 1, so no waiting for anything. I hope sometime to go at night, as I hear the place looks even more beautiful then.

Yes This restaurant is the tops.Food is excellent.
Right on the edge of a lake. Which is being transformed into a beautiful park area.
Better than Nong Prajak lake!
Certain Evenings, there is live music Thai, and Western.

Tha Naam Restaurant, superb!

Post by vincemunday » March 28, 2017, 7:11 am

We were recommended to try this restaurant and what a great recommendation it was! Forget Maeya, forget the rather nasty Samuay and most of the other "established" restaurants in town, this is the newish kid on the block and it beats them all by a country mile, and then some. The first thing to mention is the surroundings, very appealing, it has a proper Thai feel and it's nice and open so you get the breeze. The owners are very friendly, they introduced themselves and made sure we were comfortable, they're lovely people. We had deep fried fish with herbs, green curry, chicken and cashew, crab in yellow curry, pak goong and steamed rice. I'm a bit spoilt, my wife just happens to be an excellent Thai chef but I have to say, with the exception of the green curry which was a little too mild for me it was all absolutely spot on and just how it should be. Please don't take my criticism of the green curry out of context, I'm used to it being very fiery (my wife is also Esan) and this was tamed down for western taste, I shall ask them to cook it full pelt next time, yes there will be a next time and another and another.... the bill for reference came to 400 baht a head, very reasonable for the quality of the food, this is definitely worth a try, there is lots of parking here too.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.
