By his own (repeated) admissions, the chosen POTUS is NOT about doing anything at all in the terms of world leadership that you allude to. From the get-go, he has always been about MAGA and not MTFWGA.

At this stage, world leadership comes with the US presidency, he knows that, and probably will never say it, most free countries will look to the USA in times of upcoming or simmering conflicts and ask "What is the USA going to do about this".
Err, what is MTFWGA?. You are correct, the rest of the world did not vote for Mr Trump, and I never said they did, but for decades now, most of the world looks at the POTUS as the leader of the free world, there has got to be a world leader somewhere and when you get voted in as POTUS you automatically become that leader.
It may change somewhere down the line, but I am quite happy that it is the USA. I cannot think of any other leader of a country that has the will and muscle like the USA to become a world leader for peoples freedom.
The OMG moment may have been that he was expecting more votes his way and there was a change he may have lost the election. I still think he is doing a great job.
You are the one who elevated him to "leader of the free world" in this conversation.
MAGA = Making America Great Again which is Trump's primary goal.
MTGWGA = Making The Free World Great Again which isn't on his agenda.
On election night, his campaign was buoyant when some unexpected early wins came in but for most of the night, he was going to be at-best a close second. The wins in the late reporting rust-belt states that turned away from the Democrats surprised EVERYONE, including the Panda.
There's a series of games at the climax of the regular American major League Baseball (MLB) season to decide which team, one each from the National league and the American league, is the best in the USA. It's called the World Series for some reason.
There's a presidential election held every 4 years in the USA. For the time being, the winner comes from either the Republican party or the Democrat party. Whoever wins is inaugurated as President of the United States of America and is just that. He isn't called President of the Free World.
Granted, the power and influence of the position is immense but with Trump's primary focus on building a wall and undoing as much of his predecessor's work as possible doesn't bode well for anyone out there looking for some sort of guidance and leadership. World leadership from the US aint coming anytime soon which is OK right now as most nation states are busy taking care of their own ---- by themselves.
