Workshop and house, Non Sa-At ½ way between KK & Udon
The garden wall.
If you look back to the beginning of June you will see that the temple pool is undergoing modifications, one of which was the clearing of the trees and deepening it. This ment there was extra earth to put somewhere.
When we built our garden boundary wall 11 years ago there was a slope on the far side going up to the earth surrounding the temple pool. SWMBO has been complaining that people throw rubbish into the gap. She said that the gap could be filled with earth so stopping the dumping, I said that it was not a good idea as we didn't build a retaining wall we just built a boundary wall. However she is there and I'm in Japan so her ideas rule o)
On Saturday a few weeks ago I got some panicked messages while I was teaching and some pictures.
After some discussion on the phone
(I have so far managed to resist all temptations to point out that I had said that what I had said would happen has done, explaining that you are right specially when it is so obvious is counter productive. I getting far more brownie points by not complaining )
I decided that we would have to pay to have the earth removed as it was SWMBO wo had said OK to putting it there and getting the village elders to pay might have been just possible but would have involved a lot of argument and time, the time we didn't have as heavy rain could have caused a total collapse or much greater damage, the arguments we didn't need.
A significant factor in the decision was that the cost for digging out was not going to be more than ฿15,000 so an amount we can easily afford and with us paying it could happen the next day.
So on Sunday morning in came a baby maco and truck for ฿12,000.
SWMBO bought two prefabricated posts to prop up the damaged posts.
On Monday or Tuesday there was a meeting with the local control group where the village headman (called ketchy even by his wife) didn't want to help us at all but the rest of the group decided to pay for the 2 support posts and another 5
I'm not sure what we will do with the gap, maybe add some stone then shade net to prevent too much earth washing into the stone to provide drainage.

Looking good
I admire you restraint in not saying "I told you so". I can't always do it & it usually gets me into more trouble

August the 1st
The Waterhouse ceiling is nearing completion and is getting the first undercoat
A little problem, the roofing team were not told to use mosquito netting on the main house roof so we now have to find a different way to mosquito proof the house. They are working very fast.
Preparing for the window install.

A few details related to our roller shutter
The first point is that we could have payed about ⅓ the price we did. We are happy with the better specifications and the shutter.
First was to upgrade the thickness by about 6 grades from the thinnest 0.4 to 0.6 we decided against stainless steel as the difference is about 7 times more expensive.
Then we decided to have a subtle pattern on the individual sections.
After that we got quiet strips added to the shutter guides.
The next upgrade was to have roller bearings on the top roll up section.
After that we went for the larger size of roll, this also keeps things smooth and quiet.
The last two options were to have stainless steel padlock points, this is to prevent the hinges from binding over time (our current one has this problem.
And better quality side lock fitted (this delayed the installation as it had to be specially ordered from Bangkok)
The last thing that increased the price was to get the company to do the delivery and install

Looking Good Jerome,
The teams seem to be professional.
I may have missed it but whom did you buy the windows from and did they send s trained team to install?

So far we have had a big enough build to make it worthwhile getting the makers to to do the installs this also means that there is a guarantee on the installed products. I hope we will never need that but it is there.
