"It was banned by individual Edward II as too violent" would give a hint of the date, especially for those who have been educated in a British/Canadian system.

The Mari Lwyd, Wales

Welsh Christmas customs like the Mari Lwyd date back to the first half of the nineteenth century. A horse's skull is embellished, and it is then mounted on a broomstick. The skull seems like the head of some scary horse because the person holding the stick is draped in a sheet. The horse will stop and knock on every door before moving on. When a door is opened, the people who have gathered around the horse start singing and requesting admittance inside the house.

"Russian ground forces have lost about 2,600 main battle tanks and 4,900 other armored combat vehicles in Ukraine since the beginning of the war and until January 25, 2024, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.

In 2023 Russia lost about 40% less equipment than in 2022."

Is the public's love affair with electric cars over? As House of Lords committee blames a comedian for green motor sales stall, charging points across the UK lie empty and EV forecasts are missed

The poor sales have ignited a blame game in Westminster, with actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson even being held responsible after he described EVs as 'a bit soulless' in a comment piece he penned in June last year.

It comes amid a government goal to completely phase out petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles by 2035 - something Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pushed back five years in September.

Industry figures showed that the market share of EVs plummeted by 25 per cent last month when compared with January
2023.

You really need to find a more credible, reliable and accurate source than the bullsh.it in the Daily Fail, noos.

BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) sales in the UK in Jan 24 are actually up 14% on Jan 23 - ~51000 units compared to ~ 45000 units.

The 25% misleadingly referred to by the Fail is for private sales - with fleet and business sales easily making up for it.

Wrong again, noos.

Hertz USA is selling 20,000 of its EV fleet of 35,000.

So, moving right along, why is Hertz offloading 57.14285714285714% of their EV fleet?

Yes sales were up slightly but overall percentage of zev to fv market fell this what the House of Lords was blaming Rowan on

Electric car sales in UK flatline, prompting calls for VAT cut
Stalled growth in electric vehicles comes despite government goal to phase out petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles by 2035
The lacklustre growth in the electric vehicle market comes despite a government goal to totally phase out petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles by 2035, albeit one that was diluted by Rishi Sunak last September from an original target of 2030.
a much more credible reliable and accurate source the Guardian

The guardian printed
Atkinson is also wrong to say that the UK government’s plan to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 “seems to be based on conclusions drawn from only one part of a car’s operating life: what comes out of the exhaust pipe”..Yes the date is now 2035 but when rowan said it, it was in fact 2030

If they think that's bad, wait until they see what is in store for them when they reach the motor city!

Actually, Detroit is much improved since it was known as 'Murder City'. I used to go to Detroit as least once a year to watch a baseball game. I always stayed in Windsor overnight except in the mid-'50s when I stayed at my Aunt's house.

Tristan Da Cunha
As of October 2018, the main island has 250 permanent inhabitants, who all carry British Overseas Territories citizenship.

Tristan da Cunha is one of three constituent parts of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, with its own constitution. There is no airstrip on the main island; the only way of travelling in and out of Tristan is by ship, a six-day trip from South Africa

individual's Guards

The guard is on horseback from 10 am until 4 pm, with the two sentries changing every hour. From 4 pm until 8 pm a pair of dismounted sentries remain. At 8 pm, the gates of Horse Guards are locked, and a single sentry remains until 7 am.

What was the longest boxing match in history?

On April 6, 1893, Andy Bowen and Jack Burke fought the longest gloved boxing match in history at the Olympic Club in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bout lasted for seven hours and 19 minutes, from 9:00 pm until early morning the next day, going 110 rounds. The prize was the Lightweight Championship of the South and a purse of $2,500.
