Oh! Look - A President With Seemingly Nothing To Hide
Re: Oh! Look - A President With Seemingly Nothing To Hide
And now the Speaker of the house has been deposed. Has become a poisoned chalice and no one wants the job. USA democracy is really getting dysfunctional. Time for a dictator?
Re: Oh! Look - A President With Seemingly Nothing To Hide
Current majority leader Scalise and raving loony Jordan have already said they'll take a tilt at stalling government functionality while circumventing the will of the pe... sorry, running for House Speaker.
PS. The dictator-in-waiting is busy in court in NYC.

Jim Jordan as potentially third in line to running the nation.
What's NOT sobering about that?

My personal view is that the US government just keeps getting bigger when it really needs be getting smaller. This huge government overspending costs more than the US can afford, so the printing presses just keep printing more money. When will the day come when all the borrowed money needs to be repaid? What do the politicians do when the well runs dry? Which party will be in power when taxes need to be substantially raised to pay the huge debt?
Re: Oh! Look - A President With Seemingly Nothing To Hide
yes, always larger with no thought of reining in spending. But, that said, "discretionary" spending which Congress controls through their thoroughly messed up budget process is about 1/3rd of the total budget. The rest is "mandatory" spending controlled by legislation.. Until a total revamping of all that happens, they'll never balance the budget and certainly continue to increase the national debt: https://www.cbo.gov/publication/58889#: ... t%20loans.

That last question's easy. The party that claimed, "No new taxes" on their election stumps.glalt wrote: ↑October 5, 2023, 12:09 pmMy personal view is that the US government just keeps getting bigger when it really needs be getting smaller.
