Sad news. Long time resident of Udon, John Pough, passed away last night. John retired from the Air Force and has lived here since the early 70's. Not sure when the funeral will be as family members will be traveling to Udon. His body is at his home on Soi Sripinit (ซอยศรีพินิจ) which is off Thahan Rd across from the Wing 23 entrance. I'll post more info when it becomes available.

John worked at AUA for a number of years before I arrived and was very popular with the staff and students.

Rest in peace.

John was a real gentleman who always tried to do the best for everyone he came in contact with. He'll be missed by all who knew him.

Thank you for the kind words. As many of you know John was my father in-law and I here at the house with the rest of the family. If you would like to come by then please come as it will be nice to see everyone again.

I've been told that John's funeral will be at Wat Phothiwararam (วัดโพธิวราราม) on Thursday at 2PM. As you're heading from the fountain circle to AEK, take the right just before AEK....the road leads into the temple.

John got a very nice send off yesterday......the VFW had a small ceremony before the heavy duty monk chanting got under way. Then the commander of the post presented the freshly folded American flag to his widow, Noon. That's always a moving ceremony.
The leader of the Udon Provincial Administration Organization (P.A.O.), Nai Tanchai Temtananoon, attended along with several of his assistants. I thanked him for taking the time to attend John's funeral.......he said that John taught him English looooong ago when AUA was still teaching at Rahjapat.
